So simple yet trendy suede shoes needs regular maintenance to retain their sheen. Look out for the tips on how you could maintain them. ese elegant and simple looking pair of shoes has never remained out of fashion and would never be. Like other shoes they too face the wear and tear. But if you maintain them properly you could probably make them last longer. After all when they add elegance to your outfit they do deserve to be looked after well. The first and the foremost adage to follow is: prevention is better than cure. Be mindful when you are wearing the suede shoes. You cannot wear these shoes when you are going out to play or want to enjoy the rainy season. These are not meant for that. Also whenever you wear them make sure that you clean them to remove any dust. You could keep them in the shoe box or even get a pair of dust shoes to keep them protected from the dust. Protector spray: buy a protector spray or cream to remove the dirt. Even if they are not dirty, make it a habit to apply the spray once in a week. This would help increase the life of your beloved suede shoes. Brush them up regularly: the brush would help you remove the dirt and also the stains. Nylon brush could be used if the stains are light. Well for the tougher stains you could even use wire brushes or hard bristled toothbrush. Brush in all the directions so that the dirt loosens and comes up and you could clean them easily. Then after the stains are removed again brush the shoe in the direction of the suede shoe grain. Removing the water stains: sometimes unfortunately the suede shoes get wet. If it gets wet, you would see a big mark over the shoe. To remove this mark, first wrap them in the newspaper, then take a wet cloth and apply water on the entire shoe. Leave them to dry preferably in the shade and then again brush it to gain back the uniformity. Get a suede eraser: though you could even use a pencil eraser to rub off the dirt and the scuff marks but for stronger stains, it is advisable that you buy a suede eraser. Even medium grit sandpaper could be brought into use to get rid of the scuff marks. But make sure that you use them as little as possible. Some people say that they have also used white vinegar to remove the stains. You could even try the same. Take small amount of white vinegar, dab it on a white cloth and then apply it to the stain. But use it as a last resort when all the other methods have failed.
